Department of Journalism & Communication Studies

In accordance with the principles of holistic education, the Department offers students theoretical and professional training in journalism and speech communication. It aims to cultivate in students professional competence in their major fields of study and a propensity for public service.

Features and Goals
Department sets the following as its goals of curriculum:
I. Integrating related academic fields in journalism and speech communication.
II. Developing a spirit of social concerns and services.
III. Cultivating reflective social insight and creative exploratory competence in news/information processing.
IV. Fostering historical and international visions for journalists.

 
Course Discriptions
Course Requirements for the Journalism & Communication Bachelor’s Degree.
Students must complete 128 credits, including 28 credits from University requirements and 64credits from department requirements.
Nine core groups of courses are provided:
1. Social Science and Humanities
2. Introduction to Journalism
3.Introduction to Speech Communication
4. News Reporting and Writing
5. News Editing and Planning
6. Photo journalism
7. Broadcast Journalism
8. International and Localized Communication
9. The Study of News Production
